5I FINALLY FOUND R2-D2!!!!!!!!!!!!  Jun 02, 2002 By Jared Mertz "mertz523"
It took me 2 weeks to find this awesome little droid after I saw the movie. I have the deluxe Tatooine R2 with the lights and sounds, but I got this one anyway. The paint job is the best I have seen so far on these AOTC figures. I usually compare 2 or 3 figures, but I didn't have to this time, even though there were 5 more next to it. Anyway, R2 features 6 different sounds and a BLINKING LIGHT, which is VERRRY bright. The centipedes are cool, too. Buy this figure, if you haven't already. You won't regret it.

5A fun figure!  May 19, 2002 By M. Fairleigh "superman2k38"
... the R2-D2 is uber-cool. What makes it are the truly neat sound effects and light display. My cat is enthralled by it everytime I activate it. Collection 1, #14

5The Baddest Droid In The Galaxy  Jul 23, 2002
I am an avid collector of toys, particularly anything to do with the holy trilogy Star Wars. Naturally, I hold droid R2D2 in very high regards...but just because he's a hero on the silver screen doesn't guarantee that his action figure will be equally great. I am surprised to say, however, that not only am I fully impressed with Hasbro's take on R2, but I have it proudly displayed on my shelf, as well. There are so many questions I ask myself whenever reviewing a toy: Does it look good? Is it durable? Does it bear a reasonable likeness to the character after which it was designed? Little R2 passes the test with flying colors! It's definitely one of the finest toys out of the Hasbro line.

5R2-D2  May 24, 2002 By Daniel
This is a pretty good action figure. The asassin centipedes are very well painted an detailed. They're very flexible(but I wouldn't reccomend bending them to much) R2 himself is one of the best detailed figures! It's beautiful. It looks just like real R2. It is so cool that you can push a button and it does that stuff. That's one of the reasons you should get it. You can move it's legs, so this is probably the best figure to buy for little kids. Definetly buy this one!:)

4Alright  May 04, 2002
This artoo is pretty cool. The little bugs were nicley painted, but I didn't bother taking them out of the box. R2-D2 himself is alot better than the last one I bought in the 90's. Remember the one with the retractable leg and the two other legs that had almost no articulation. Fortuneatley, This one's "ankles" have joints, so that he actually looks like Artoo.
The other good feature is the electric lights and sound. The sound effects aren't too repetitive: He can "say" about 6 different things I think, and each time you push the activation button Artoo makes a different combination of beeps and whistles each time. His little eye blinks too! The only problem was his dome. First, the weak silver paint job didn't impress me. Second, the ugly mold crease around his head looked too...well...ugly, but maybe I'm being too harsh. Last, his head has NO articulation what so ever!!! This I know is because of the electronic mechanism but from what I've seen, the Episode 1 Artoo looked alot more fun. Artoo's body on this particular
Ep. 2 version is well done in comparison to the old '95 version. The blue markings are a better hue of blue, and the details and panels are in higher contrast due to better molding technology. This figure is of course WAAAAAAAAAY better than the OOOOLD Artoo from the 70's. That one had a closer resemblance to Mama Cass than an R2-D2. My guess is that the people who sculpted that figure never saw the movie! Well, I bought the Coruscant chase Kenobi and Kamino Jango Fett when I bought this little guy. If I had a choice, I'd return this one and buy another Jango. I should stop capping down on the little guy. He's staring at me as I type this and I'm afraid he'll get [angry] and give me a taste of his power charge arm!
Buy this figure if you like the sound effects, but if that's not enough, don't bother. My favorite sound is the little wimper he makes. Remember when the Jawas shot him with the ion gun and Artoo fell over? That's the sound!
