5Great expanstion for Catan fans  Jan 21, 2010 By Ryan M. Emens
The game includes tiles to make larger versions of the scenario in the 3-4 player Seafares expansion. In order to use this product, you must also need the basic Settlers of Catan board game, the basic Settler 5-6 player expansion, and Seafares 3-4 for players. While is does require you to buy four items all together, the game is well worth it!

5Great add on - upgrades regular Catan  Mar 10, 2011 By ark76 "Annie K"
In order to use this game you need to have the original Catan, Catan extension pack, Seafarers add on and now this. It gets pretty expensive and confusing to keep track of all of the extension packs but if you have more than 4 in your family you need to commit to doing it. It is definitely worth it. After the learning curve of the first time you read the instructions and set it up (prepare for a good hour to get it right the first time) you will quickly be able to switch between the different versions and options and enjoy them all. Particularly like the way the rules for the 5-6 player incorporate the need for some variations that get the game moving faster and more fairly. This is the most tailor made game I've ever played. Every time I play, it is different.

5What a great expansion to the basic Settlers game.  Jul 31, 2008 By Chad Abshier
I absolutely love settlers, and my wife and I play with friends about once or twice a week. We only had the basic game for a long time, but we finally bit the bullet and bought seafarers, and are so glad that we did. Seafarers adds boats (which tend to make sheep more valuable as opposed to practically worthless in the basic game). We love having more variety of games, and play all the scenarios. Buy it, having more things to explore is a great deal of fun.

4Extension vs. Expansion  Feb 16, 2011 By 12AngrySmurfs
Before you purchase any of the Settlers of Catan board games, know the difference between "Expansion" and "Extension." Keep in mind that you cannot play the extension without the expansion.

4Seafarers 5-6 player expansion pack  Sep 03, 2011 By Ralph A. Famiglietti "Sandy Socks"
My gaming group after playing 40-50 games of the basic Catan added Fishermen which was great. Then we added Rivers (gold) and found that to work better when playing with 5-6 players rather than 4. Now we are working are way through Seafarers. Some of the biggest differences are 3 Victory Points for a first village on a new island. So lead swings happen often. And using the robber to stop island expansions is another nice varible.
Seafarers adds a whole new level of tactics to the game and we like it.
On the downside, there is still trouble getting the tiles to fit properly and remain in place during the game.
I would sum it all up by saying, "If you like what the 5-6 player expansion did for the Catan basic game, then you'll like what this 5-6 player expansion does for seafarers." Best price I've found for this (new) is $16
