4Excellent for Marvel Mego Customizers...!!!  Jul 11, 2011 By David Bolter
Yes sir.., buying up these figures cheap will provide you excellent alter-ego customs.. Removing the head is a bit of a trick ~ Recommend you trash the faulty torso, saving the head plug to fit on a standard Mego T2 body. You could save this process by re-stringing it as well, but I'd just use a new body.

This will provide you excellent customized figures of Johnny Storm (Human Torch), Steve Rogers (Captain America), Hank Pym (Antman/YellowJacket), or Dr. Donald Blake (Thor). Oodles of ideas for those blond-headed Silver Age Marvel alter-egos.

Thanks much, Mattel..!!!

4Aquaman, the Pug-faced Version  Mar 07, 2011 By Harry
A poor attempt at recapturing the "cuteness" of the vintage Mego figures. He looks pug-faced. Sigh. I wish that they had just fixed the ears on the old one. It's not that I'm committed to the vintage Mego look; I just think if they are going to be revised then they should be improved upon. Is that so much to ask?

The costume is nice. I put it on another figure. Fortunately, it didn't have runs on it like some of the others that I purchased.

Mattel, please hire a professional sculptor to do these. Is your Barbie/Ken sculptor available?

Now what to do with this large stack of Mattel bodies.

I do like the twelve dollar price tag. That is how much they all should retail for---only after they fix the body problems though.

1Mattel Messed Up The Retro Torso  Oct 04, 2010 By All Around Geek "Whataslacker.com"
This wave was supposed have a "fixed" torso from the earlier Superman/Green Lantern wave of floppy legs and waist, but it is not fixed. Yes it is a little better but not much.

I have all the retro Mego figures and Mattel should have stuck with the ORIGINAL molds that will hold a pose. They do not even stand well (they only stand leaning forward or back....not in any way shape or form can you get a normal stance out of them).

These are only for MIB collectors because once you get them out of the box you will be really sad.

Mattel should send them all back and let Dr Mego do what he does best -- Retro Mego toys -- not Mattelized pieces of plastic junk!
