Deceptively small--picture doesn't reveal scale Oct 09, 2011

I bought multiple sets of battle dice all at once to spice up my Axis & Allies games, and when they came in I was really disappointed at how small they are. I had previously bought Q-Workshop's Arkham Horror dice, which are full-sized, and loved them, so I figured I would inevitably acquire lots more dice from them over time. But these were half the size of the Arkham Horror dice (which are a hair bigger than regular board game dice, a hair smaller than Las Vegas gambling dice), and the feeling of throwing down a double handful of these tiny dice is much less satisfying than the regular board game dice that come with Axis & Allies. Still not sure whether I'll continue to use them, or go back to using the regular ones.
But hey, the design is great, and I can't imagine the paint ever coming off. This is a high-quality product. If you like small dice, these are irreproachable.
I think the Soviet dice were the most popular of battle dice on Q-Workshop's own website, and I can see why. Having a little hammer & sickle come up when you roll a 6 is oddly quite cool. I bought all of the battle dice designs they sell, and these were my favorite. They're also among the most readable.
