Overpriced & Fair Condition Apr 19, 2012
By Oracle Employee I love this poster. Gorgeous Alex Ross art of the New Mutants. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by two factors when I received it. The poster came in its original sealed plastic wrapping (more on that later) shipped in a protective mailing tube. When I unrolled it, the poster had evidence that it had been flattened or smashed somewhat. It has a ribbed look even after framing it flat and putting some weight on it. If it picks up any kind of glare from surrounding lights, you can totally see the "ribbing." Clearly the poster was not preserved carefully. I imagine it was part of the shop's inventory for a while. Second, regarding the poster's original packaging the original price was sticker (from manufacturer) was still on the item. It read $8.99. The dealer Gotham City Comics (or whatever) was selling the poster for more than double that price. Normally for a collector's item this is typical for the price to go up. But the poster is only a couple of years old and in lousy condition. My love for the characters/artwork kept me from returning it but it really left a sour taste in my mouth.
