5Unique Bidding and Risk Taking Game  Dec 11, 2009 By bdead
Medici is a game about bidding and quantitative risk. Each players turn they lay out 1-3 cards (flipping 1 at a time and stopping when they choose) each consisting on a resource and a point value. Then each player bids until the player who placed the cards gets the final bid. Whoever wins gets the 1-3 cards to put in there "cargo" (max of 5). At the end of each day (all cards run out or all cargo ships are full) You tally your resources then divy out money depending on who is leading in resources and points in their cargo ship for that day.

There is a total of 3 days and it gets really interesting on how to bid. There may be a load that you do not want but you know someone else really wants. So you will bid just so they have to pay more. But they could just let you have it and mess up your game (and potentially theirs).

The dynamics of the game changes a lot depending on the style of who you are playing with and whether you playing with 3,4 or 5 people.

This is mostly a game of balancing risk. I've never played another game quite like this one and I think that is where Medici stands aparty. Originality. It's very simple to learn how to play though it is very confusing to know what to bid your first couple times playing.

My friends and I play a LOT of games and this is one we frequently go back to. I highly recommend it. I know it's out of print so hopefully it doesn't become too hard to find over time.

4Good game, poor graphics  Jun 13, 2006 By Donna Davis
This is a fun game of bidding, and it doesn't take too long to learn or play - both a big plus. The only problem I see is with the board itself; the graphics on the board don't exactly match what is on the cards, and they all sort of look similiar so it's hard to distinguish from one to the next at a glance. It doesn't help that the square player markers are usually covering up these sections, which makes it difficult to see the commodity. However, I understand a makeover is in progress and a new version should hopefully be out soon that is clearer than the original. In the meantime, Medici is a good light strategy game of bidding (like Modern Art), and definitely worth playing. Game on!

5Medici is a great game for adults or teens!  Jan 05, 2011 By P. J. Mastriano
I bought this game for my 25 year old son who played it at a friend's house and really liked it. We've played it several times and all of us think it's a great game.

5Great Product  Aug 24, 2011 By maria
It is a great game if you like strategy and luck. The game arrived in perfect condition and in a timely manner which is good because it was a gift for somebody (and they loved it!).
