I buy Giant Microbes for my girls every Christmas and birthday. They've amassed quite the germ army, and my kids love them. Malaria didn't fail to disappoint: well-made, cute, and an informative tag attached with information about the disease's causes and cures.
Who knew microbes could be so darned adorable?

This bright green beady-eyed malaria "bug" looked great peering out from the top of a Christmas stocking. It would probably be a good toy for cuddling or display for a child or teenager, though hopefully not so relevant as for my adult daughter who had a dangerous bout with falciparum malaria in the jungles of Indonesia and has hung it next to her typhoid bug(same company; she had that disease too). Try this or one of the others as an unusual and conversation-starting gift for a doctor adult or doctor-to-be-child among your friends and family!
