A nonsense game with a nonsense theme Mar 08, 2010
I just want to say that Fluxx is meant to be played on a Monty Python atmosphere.
It's a very light game that doesn't rely on complex strategies.

Very easy and funny to play with "non-gamers" friends.

We play many games when our family gets together, and this one is one of the better ones. There aren't a lot of rules to learn before you play (those come later) so the learning curve is minimal. As the game goes on, though, you are called upon to learn and remember a constantly changing set of rules. This is a first rate game for anyone who loves games.

I bought two of these card decks, along with two expansion packs and two Fluxx Blanxx, one set to keep and one set for some friends who are big Monty Python fans. We also have the original Fluxx game, which we love. It's a very creative game, and the Monty Python version is like playing one of those themed Monopoly board games--each and every card has words and illustrations that any Python fan will instantly recognize. Definitely worth it to pick up one or two sets of expansion packs and Blanxx along with this delightful game! :)

I bought this game for a friend whom loves the Monty Python Search for the Holy Grail movie. He absolutely loves the game and we have played it multiple times after he opened it. The game is great because you never know what to expect. Goals change all the time, and a hand that looked like it might win, can be a terrible hand in an instant. Strategies that worked in one game to win, may not work in the next game.

When we first started playing it was a little confusing, as we had never played any of the Fluxx games, and the constant changes in goals and rules was something we had never experienced before. However, it did not take long to acclimate to the game, and we were soon playing with no problems and having a great time. Don't worry about reading the game's directions too thoroughly, everything changes constantly. Just skim through the directions to get a feel for how it all works.

I recommend this game to others whom like card games and don't mind craziness. If you don't like change this game is not for you. Also, if you don't know anything about the movie you won't understand the cards' jokes or references, but it can still be fun regardless. All I can say is that I need to work on my fake accent...
