2Great sculpt, frail accessories become broken, useless  May 17, 2011 By Cinemaphile
Man, was I psyched to get this figure, but it's a huge disappointment. On the one hand, it's great to finally see Travis Morgan, a.k.a, Warlord, finally rendered as a 6" style figure--and beautifully so. The paint apps are quite nice and the sculpt is superb. But this figure has serious issues.

1. Unable to hold spear.
Warlord's right hand is a fist/hole so he can grip the spear (secondary weapon). Problem is the spear is too thick. His sword hand (left hand) is open so he can hold the sword--spear won't work here because it's now too thin. Result? Accessory is made useless due to poor planning and testing before production.

Side effects: I made 3 attempts to get the figure to hold the spear accessory before giving up. Why? His wrist and elbow articulation became extremely loose in the process--a no-no for premium figs. Another side effect is that the spear is likely too thick due to all the paint the manufacturer used--so I risk stripping the paint off if I try to work it into place any further. As of this writing, only about 1cm of the spear has made it all the way through his hand. That means this accessory can never be held by the figure.

2. Sword breaks easily.
Sorry, but this is just a no-go. Warlord NEEDS his sword. There's a serious weak point between the blade meets the hilt. I could see it might easily get caught when I was removing from the packaging. When I free figs from packaging I cut the plastic to allow extra give so there's less stress on the figure and any parts hanging off. I'm also careful to ensure no pieces get hung up as I work the figure free from the plastic. Even with these precautions--you guessed it--the sword BROKE right at the weak spot.

Another worthless accessory.

I'm no newbie to collecting figures, I've got tons on display and in storage. This is the FIRST time I've ever snapped a piece while working it out of it's plastic enclosure.

Worse, DC Direct doesn't handle customer service to replace parts--customers are stuck going back to the retailers who (as one guy told me) "...nobody likes dealing with replacement stuff with DC." They do not seem to stand behind their products.

So super glue it is--again, unacceptable on what's supposed to be a premium figure.

If you're a collector: SKIP this one and hold out for a better rendition.

If it's a must: DON'T take it out of the packaging--it's not worth risking the damage to the figure or it's accessories.
