These water-soluble overhead-projection pens work well with the mats. The black, blue, and green colors are the best regarding being removed with water. The red has a tendency of staining much more than the other colors so it is best used for highlighting only. NOTE: Never use dry erase, permanent, or grease-pencil markers. The vinyl is too porous for the lines created from them to be able to be removed. If you have any doubt of the suitability of any particular marker, draw a small line on the border, let sit for awhile, and see how well it can be removed. Better to have a small permanent blemish on the edge of the mat than a permanent map drawn on the entirety of the mat!

4Good Pens... May stain if left on some surfaces  Jan 20, 2011 By Jenn Hollis
We've been using these pens with our play mat and some of the colors stain if you leave it more than an hour (notably red and blue). We have no trouble with the black and green marker colors. This is our 2nd set of this brand and we plan to make sure we clean everything quickly after use and use the red and blue sparingly. I would say it breaks down like this:

Shiny surface cardboard/cardstock style play mats/maps: Cleans off like magic!

Chessex Flexible Role Playing Play Mat/Battlemat: Can stain with red/blue markers

5Given as a gift to my grown son.  Jan 08, 2012 By S. Lee
Merry Christmas. This gift to my grown son (23) was one he requested even before the holidays. He asked for it right away because he had a group of 4 grown men who remember the hours they spent enjoying D&D as teens. As Master, this product has really served his purposes. Great gift that I credit encouraging his creativity as a teenager.

4Not bad  Dec 03, 2011 By Bryan R. Shepard
Some colors stain, but you can get those out by making a cleaning solution; oxy-clean is good. They last a long time, even when left uncapped.

5erasable pens that work.  Nov 29, 2011 By mrcalzon02
These pens showed up on time and in perfect order, they have a handy hard snapping case. they wipe off with a wet paper towel or cloth. They work as advertised (rare). Simply German made pens that work well.

5They work.  Oct 12, 2011 By FP
The markers do just what I wanted, that is making marks on the playmat. They don't rub off if you happen to rest your hand on the lines for a few seconds, and they come off easily with a bit of water.

Package shipped within the estimated time and was in perfect condition.
